Description
Congruence Couple Therapy (CCT) harnesses the couple relationship as a resource to create profound and significant clinical and relationship outcomes.
It is an evidence-based model that outperformed individual treatment for gambling and alcohol-used disorders, but also applicable to other couple and individual concerns.
This systemic relational model reduced life stress while improving communication and emotion regulation in both partners.
CCT fluidly interweaves four dimensions of the couple system to raise self and other awareness including the impact of adverse childhood experiences, emotional and cognitive states and enhanced self-worth.
Counsellors reported that they found a new aliveness in working with couples and learned to trust their own creativity and intuition while quickly engaging with both partners.
Clients said CCT led them to a compassionate understanding of their condition that removed shame and restored their worth, safety and connection.
This systemic method is suitable for individual work using a systemic form of exploration.
Format
Guided by an e-workbook and facilitated by the developer of CCT, you will engage in pre-session readings. Counsellors will bring in a case when it is their turn. Using a structured presentation of the case, group discussion, role-plays and input by the supervisor, CCT principles and interventions will be explained and put into practice.
Objectives
Enliven the therapist's creativity and intuition in engaging clients
Assess couple communication using a Congruent Communication Typology
Apply the Circle of Communication Cards to expand Couple Communication
Use a structured process to identify session goals and make every session count towards change
Make linkages to raise awareness of the FOUR CIRCULAR DOORS of interpersonal, intrapsychic, intergenerational and universal-spiritual dimensions of CCT in every intervention.
Audience
Marriage and Family Therapists, Counselors, Psychologists, Social Workers, and graduate students in counselling fields are welcome.

Reviews on the presenter and the model
“Bonnie Lee is a rare teacher. She walks in the world of research and she is able to support her concepts with sound methodology. She then takes her findings to the realm of therapy and explores application of her ideas with critical eyes. Her multi-cultural lens provides an opportunity to see human universals and patterns with the ability to translate those observations into her work. She is articulating a process that needs articulation.” - Stephen Buckee, Living Treasure of the Satir Global Network
"This is absolutely ground-breaking work, since gambling addiction is often a treatment for the addicted individual and not for the addicted person and the spouse. Conceptualizing the issue as relational is revolutionary. Dr. Lee is to be commended for her creativity, her scholarship and her commitment to quality research. She has significantly advanced the work of a pioneer in family therapy in bringing theory and new applications of Satir’s legacy into the 21st century." -Sharon Loeschen, President, Virginia Satir Global Network
"Attendees consistently praised your presentation skills and your ability to elucidate complex concepts with practical examples. The flow of the workshop was seamless, and the exercises we practiced were both insightful and applicable to our professional contexts. Dr. Lee, you have an engaging demeanor that captivates participants throughout the workshop. Your calm and approachable manner created a conducive learning environment, and your willingness to share practical examples further enhanced our understanding of different Congruence Couple Therapy principles. Furthermore, it is evident that you possess a genuine curiosity about relationships and couples. This curiosity translated into a dynamic and thought-provoking learning experience for all involved."
- Alissa Vincenti, President, Quebec Counselling Association
“We as counsellors found this to be such meaningful work; I know that my overall job satisfaction has increased being able to incorporate Congruence Couple Therapy into my practice.”

“Bonnie is a great facilitator, so engaging, and fun to learn from!” - Workshop participant
