​Owning your Worth & Taking your Place in Relationships

Description
This is a six-session, therapist-facilitated group counselling workshop designed to support women to strengthen their self-worth, exercise self-compassion, utilize positive self-talk and revise old beliefs and schemas to take their rightful place in relationships with partners, parents, children and co-workers. The group helps participants understand the origins of self-esteem difficulties and develop skills to conduct respectful conversations that honour both self and other. The group is delivered online with consideration for psychological safety and confidentiality.

Objectives
  1. Discover and strengthen your sense of self-worth
  2. Differentiate self-worth from self-esteem and confidence
  3. Increase awareness of self-talk and relationship patterns that undermine self-worth
  4. Enhance emotional awareness and self-compassion
  5. Develop skills to express needs, limits and preferences

Meetings
February 9 – April 20, 2026 (Six meetings, every 2 weeks)

Fee
$115/session; Six sessions ONLINE
Early Bird: $675 before January 10, 2026;

Therapist and Facilitator
Bonnie Lee, PhD, MSW-RSW, RMFT-Supervisor

Bonnie is a Registered Couple and Family Therapist and Supervisor and Professor in Addictions and Mental Health Counselling at the University of Lethbridge. She has over 25 years of experience counselling individuals, couples and families. She developed the evidence-based model Congruence Couple Therapy that was recognized as a Distinguished Initiative in the Patient Experience Award by the Health Quality Council of Alberta (2023). In 2025, she received the Professional Contribution Award by the Canadian Association for Couple and Family Therapy for her contributions to systemic research and the profession. A highly rated speaker and trainer, she has given many workshops in North America, Asia and Europe.

Learning to Listen: 
Forming Strong Connections (5 sessions - 7.5 hrs.)

This is a course for:
  • Learning about yourself and others. 
  • Practising listen skills with a variety of people and discover the uniqueness of each person. 
  • Changing the way you listen to change your life and relationships.

Participants:
Adults interested in learning to listen better to improve their family, social, and work relationships.


Description:
This 5-session group will give you expert guidance and practice in learning to listen to different people with their unique styles of talking, then transfer these skills to important people in your life -- your partner, child, friends and co-workers.

For practice, you will be paired with different participants in the group.

You can come on your own or bring a partner/family member.

Content:
  1. Clearing a space
  2. Connecting with others
  3. Attending vs Advice giving
  4. Becoming aware of your own barriers to listening
  5. Repeating Key Words
  6. Reflecting feelings, meaning, hopes and longings
  7. Paraphrasing longer segments 
  8. Asking questions
  9. Summarizing
