2023 Spring Online Workshop Series Systems Components of Congruence Couple Therapy with Individuals, Couples and Families (12 hrs.) SIX WEDNESDAYS May 24, 31, 2023 June 7, 14, 21, 28, 2023 5-7 p.m. EST
From workshop participants:
“Bonnie Lee Ph.D. is a rare teacher. She walks in the world of research and she is able to support her concepts with good methodology. She then takes these methods to the world of therapy and explores application of her ideas with critical eyes. Her multi-cultural lens provides an opportunity to see human universals and patterns with the ability to translate those observations in this work. She is articulating a process that needs articulation.” -Stephen Buckbee, Living Treasure of the Satir Global Network
“We as counsellors found this to be such meaningful work; I know that my overall job satisfaction has increased being able to incorporate Congruence Couple Therapy into my practice.”
“There has never been a model that put all these different components together with an evidence base.”
“Bonnie is a great facilitator, so engaging, and fun to learn from!”
Description This interactive workshop introduces participants to the building blocks that make up the integrative model of Congruence Couple Therapy (CCT). An award-nominated model with transformative effects in clinical settings, CCT has an evidence base for improving mental health and addiction symptoms.
Humanistic, systemic, and trauma-informed, CCT utilizes the couple and other significant relationships as a resource to create significant clinical outcomes within a short time-frame. The conceptual shift away from the sole focus on the individual and surface problems makes it a powerful multi-dimensional tool for change.
In this series, we will cover communication and emotion regulation issues that often underlie client distress. A four-dimensional framework guides counsellors to explore family of origin influences, communication patterns, self- and other- awareness as well as ways to promote connection, safety and worth, all within a life-course perspective.
This foundational workshop expands counsellors’ thinking and skills with a wider lens to work more effectively with individuals, couples and families.
Audience Counsellors, psychologists, clinicians, social workers and graduate students in counselling fields are welcome to join this interactive initiation into CCT.
Format & Method Using the Congruence Couple Concept and Method e-workbook as a guide, we will use pre-session readings, short lectures, discussion, case studies and role-playing for participants to learn the key tenets of CCT.
Dates & Times Sessions are held through Zoom on the dates designated above. A recurring Zoom invitation will be sent for the meetings.
Objectives At the end of the series, participants will be able to:
1. Apply building blocks that promote relational thinking and working. 2. Tap into the energetic centre of humans to ignite change. 3. Learn a typology of communication that corresponds to attachment styles. 4. Steer therapy with the four-dimensional model of Congruence Couple Therapy. 5. Appreciate research evidence from Congruence Couple Therapy and what it can teach us
